The bangle-style bracelet, a circular and rigid accessory, has been in existence since as early as 2600 BC and is steeped in cultural significance that can be traced back almost 5,000 years to the Mohenjo-Daro settlements on the banks of the Indus River, located in modern-day Pakistan. The discovery of the 4,500-year-old "Dancing Girl" statue by a British archaeologist in 1973 provides the first evidence of bangles being worn as a part of human culture. In the statue, the teenage girl is depicted in the nude, except for one arm that is adorned with numerous bangles.
