ITERATIVE PROCESS
from inspirations to sketches
Ideation and Sketching: This is the initial stage where Deema brainstorms ideas a particular piece or collection. Sketching rough ideas on paper or gather inspiration from different sources. This stage involves refining the initial ideas, exploring different shapes, forms, and details, and testing out different variations.
Technical Drawing: Once the sketches are finalized, Deema will create detailed technical drawings of the jewellery piece. These drawings may include dimensions, materials, and any other technical details required for the final product.
A CRITICAL PROCESS
of ethics and thoughtful practices
To uphold our promise in sustainability and use eco-friendly, recycled materials for our jewelry pieces, we must source and talk to manufacturers and craftsmen. In addition to discussing design ideas, evaluating samples, and negotiating pricing, we also consider important factors such as durability, quality, and cost. Through clear communication and collaboration, we can create high-quality and long-lasting jewelry pieces that meet the needs and expectations of our customers.
FABRICATION AND METALSMTHING
are techniques used in this stage
Once the prototype is approved by Deema, the jewellery piece can go into production. The CAD model will be used to create a mold, and the final product will be cast from this mold. The piece will then be finished, polished, and set with any stones or embellishments.
Fabrication involves cutting, soldering, and shaping metal to form a piece of jewelry. This technique requires skills in measuring, sawing, filing, and soldering to create precise shapes and connections between metal pieces.
Metalsmithing, on the other hand, involves working with metal in its molten state to create jewelry pieces. This technique involves casting, forging, and annealing metal to form different shapes and designs. It requires a high level of expertise and knowledge of different types of metals and their properties to create jewelry that is not only visually appealing but also durable and functional.
ART AND PRECISION
gem setters can make or break
Gem setting is the process of securing gems or precious stones onto a piece of jewellery. This process requires a high level of skill and precision to ensure the gems are securely attached and aligned properly. The gem setter must be knowledgeable about different types of gems and how to handle them safely during the setting process. The final appearance of the jewelry piece is greatly impacted by the quality of the gem setting process.
STAMPING OR LASER ENGRAVEMENT
added for personalised touch
Stamping involves using a stamping tool, which is a metal stamp with the desired design or text, and striking it onto the surface of the metal to create a permanent impression. The stamping process requires a high level of precision and skill to ensure that the design or text is aligned properly and evenly applied to the metal surface.
Engraving involves using a specialized tool, such as a laser engraver or a handheld engraving tool, to carve the desired design or text into the surface of the metal. Engraving is a more detailed and intricate process than stamping and can be used to create more complex designs or text.
Depending on the Deema & Co jewellery pieces (sizes/ thickness), we do stamping or engraving the company name or logo onto the surface of the metal to establish brand recognition. This process is typically done during the final stages of jewelry production, after the piece has been polished and finished to ensure a clean and precise impression.
CAPTURING THE BEAUTY
to help you visualise better
The key to successful jewellery photography is to use high-quality equipment and lighting that can capture the fine details and unique features of the piece. The jewellery is typically photographed on a clean and neutral background that doesn’t distract from the piece itself, and the images are edited to enhance their brightness, contrast, and colour accuracy.
In addition to capturing the beauty of the jewellery, jewelry photography also plays an important role in helping customers visualize how the piece will look like on them. This is often achieved by photographing the jewellery piece being worn by a model or mannequin, or by providing detailed dimensions and measurements to help customers get a sense of its size and proportions.
